Khadija Thomas was appointed Director of Finance and Accounting for the Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner’s Office in February 2021. With more than 30 years of financial management, accounting, and leadership experience, she provides strategic oversight of the office’s financial operations, regulatory compliance, budgeting, auditing, and financial reporting.
As Director, Khadija oversees accounting operations for property tax and motor vehicle functions, including government-mandated audits, bank reconciliations, financial controls, and the disbursement of tax collections to levying authorities. She also leads departmental staff, manages financial processes and procedures, and works collaboratively across the organization to strengthen internal controls, improve operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
Khadija earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Arizona. She is committed to public service and community involvement, particularly initiatives supporting seniors, at-risk youth, individuals experiencing homelessness, and local shelters.
